EWT WALLED TOWN Obituaries

Very Sad to have to report the death of Linda Thorpe of the walled town of Conwy in North Wales.(See below for John Manducca)
Linda in 2009
Vickie Macdonald has provided the attached appreciation of Linda Thorpe in which she says:
"I must mention something that was very close to Linda’s heart. The Walled Towns Friendship Circle and our [North Wales and Chester] Five Towns’ Link. It is now of course, called the European Walled Towns, but the ethos and groundwork of friendship put in by Linda and the other members in the early years, still remains. Linda was a founder member of the Link and signed the charter in Caernarfon Castle in 1993 with the Mayors of Chester, Caernarfon, Beaumaris and Denbigh. Linda represented the Link on the Executive Committee of the EWT/WTFC for many years and with great enthusiasm!
"Linda had a wonderfully distinguished career as a Councillor. But the thing that made her stand above the rest is the way in which she carried out that role - with sensitivity, generosity, great intelligence, friendship - and of course lots and lots of laughter.
"On behalf of my fellow Councillors and the whole community of Conwy, we will miss you and I thank you for everything you have done for us."

Message from President Joseph Spiteri- Linda Thorp was one of the many members of the EWT from the very beginning. She was a very active within the EWT and she has always gave a valid contribution at every discussion during the meetings. She used to attend all meetings, except when it was difficult for her to do so due to health reasons. She was a respected and much liked person, due to her friendly and sociable character. She will surely be missed by all of us who knew her. I had the opportunity to visit her at home, during my visit to Wales at the end of January. On my behalf and on behalf of the secretariat, vice Presidents, treasurer and all members would like to convey my sincere condolences and sympathy to her husband Keith, her daughters and all her family.

FROM Joe Spiteri

I would like to clarify that the above post was made by me and asked the secretary general to post it on facebook as soon as I was informed of Linda's death, though I did not sign it.
