Walled Town Notes

In September 2011, I completed draft short walled town descriptions or Notes of 28 walled towns, all then Member Towns of the Walled Towns Friendship Circle (now EWT), where the final versions or town written and fuller alternatives have been  posted. In each case there is a link to a Wikipedia article , with the proviso that some are 'stub entries' and some 'unauthenticated' . There is also in most cases a link to the town's official website. There are also references where appropriate to pre First World War Baedeker guidebooks and in some cases to modern guide books. Where possible I have included one or more photographs ( I have visited the towns in italics personally in last 25 years).
In May 2014, Dubrovnik (linked here) asked me to add their town and I have been happy to do so. Any other towns of European Walled Towns are welcome to make a similar request.

Links to blog entries on this Research on Walled Towns are listed below.

Comments (particularly from the town itself or its residents) are most welcome: corrections will be made as appropriate.
