Laguardia to the south of Vitoria-Gasteiz in
the Basque County of Alava/Araba,
stands proud on its hilltop in the rolling
plain of the Rioja Alavesa; it has carefully conserved town walls, richly
preserved streets and bodegas as a wine and olive town, which from medieval times has traded with the coast of the Basque country. Its treasure is the brightly painted medieval porch of the church St Maria de los Reyos.
