Salinas de Anana. west of Vitoria-Gasteiz. As its name suggests
salt from the hills around washed into the river and collected in pans since Roman times, has always been the source of the town’s prosperity. Walled in the middle ages, it was chartered in 1140 by Alfonso VIII. Part of the salt-pans has been restored as a visitor attraction.
Now conservation and planning is managed by ARABARRI
